Finance Secretary, Republic of the Philippines
 Secretary
Cesar V. Purisima is the third chairman and chief executive officer
of the auditing firm Sycip, Gorres, Velayo & Co. to be appointed
to the top post of the Department of Finance. He thus, follows
the footsteps of former SGV Chairs Roberto Ongpin and Rizalino
Navarro who also served as DTI heads.
Secretary Purisima joined SGV & Co. in 1980 as a junior
auditor. He was admitted to the partnership in 1989 and eventually
assumed chairmanship of the firm in 1999.
Presently, Secretary Purisima also sits as chairman of the Philippines-France
Business Council and co-chair of the Philippines-Thailand Business
Council. He is also a member of the Philippines-Japan Economic
Cooperation Committee, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry,
Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Rotary Club
of Manila, and Management Association of the Philippines.
A top placer in the 1979 CPA board exams, Secretary Purisima
graduated from the De La Salle University with a bachelor's degree
in Commerce. He earned his MBA from the J. L. Kellogg Graduate
School of Management of the Northwestern University.
