Where will the funds of GSSF be invested?
The GSSF fund will be invested in the following:
- Securities issued or guaranteed by the Philippine government,
Bureau of the Treasury, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and other
government agencies like, Treasury bills, Treasury Notes and
Bonds
- Banks Deposits and Commercial Papers of
prime corporations and of DBP's accredited Financial Institutions.
- Equities - purely Blue Chip Stocks. (10% of NAV)
How will my investment be valued then if there is no rate and term to be provided?
GSSF Investment shall be valued daily based
on the prevailing market value of the underlying investment of
the funds. Under this valuation, the Net Asset Value of the Investment
(Aggregate Market Value of the investment using the marked-to-market
as basis of valuation) less expenses (fees, taxes & qualified
expenses) divided by the total number of units, the resulting
figure is what we call the Net Asset Value per Unit or NAVpu.
The NAVpu will be the basis for computing the units and value
of investment upon admission and redemption respectively.
In case of fortuitous event, valuation or determination of NAVpu may be suspended.
Sample computation:
Admission:
Initial investment - P100,000.00
NAVpu on date of admission - P1.00
Units bought - 100,000 units (P100,000.00 / P1.00)
Redemption:
Units bought - 100,000 units
NAVpu on date of redemption - P1.05
Redemption Value - (100,000 unit x P1.05) P105,000.00
Any income or loss arising from market fluctuations and price
volatility of the securities held by the Fund, even if invested
in government securities, is for the account of the investor.
As such, units of participation of the investor in the UITF, when
redeemed, may be worth more or be worth less than his/her initial
investment/contributions
What is my evidence of participation in this kind of investment?

- Trust Agreement (one time)
- Certificate of Participation (indicating the amount invested
and the corresponding units purchased)
Is my investment in the GSSF insured by PDIC just like a bank deposit?
The UITF is NOT a DEPOSIT and not insured by PDIC. Due to the
nature of the investments, yield and potential yields cannot be
guaranteed. Any income or loss arising from market fluctuations
and price volatility of the securities held by the UITF, even
if invested in government securities, is for the account of the
investor. As such, units of participation of the investor in the
UITF, when redeemed, may be worth more or less than his/her initial
investment/contributions. Historical performance, when presented,
is purely for reference purposes and is not a guarantee of future
results. The Trustee is not liable for losses, unless upon willful
default, bad faith or gross negligence.
Can anyone invest in the GSSF?
Yes, this is open to any person or individual
or juridical entities. We are particularly encouraging the Overseas
Filipino Workers (OFW) to invest in the GSSF as our way of helping
them to save and prevent them from becoming victims of investment
scams.
