DBP Achieves ISO 9001 Certification for Remittance Operations
February 22, 2010
DBP’s Quality Management System (QMS) has been certified under the ISO 9001:2008 standard by Certification International Philippines, Inc. (CIPI) based on the results of the second stage audit held on December 7, 2009.

The development of a QMS consistent with the ISO 9001:2008 standards for the Bank’s remittance operations is expected to result to the Bank offering more competitive and better remittance products and services to its clients.

The QMS initiative likewise puts stress on quality management and further promotes the culture of continual improvement among DBP officers and employees.

In a related development, DBP was recognized along with 39 other government agencies by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for obtaining certification to ISO 9001 QMS during rites held at the Malacañan Palace.

DBP’s institutionalization of a QMS consistent with ISO 9001:2008 standards is also in line with various government decrees such as Executive Order No. 605, Administrative Order 161, and Republic Act 9485 or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007.

Issued on February 23, 2007, EO 605 particularly directs the adoption of ISO 9001 QMS among all departments in the executive branch, including all government-owned and controlled corporations and government financial institutions.

It also sets the guidelines of the Government Quality Management Program (GQMP) that promotes and enhances public sector performance through the adoption of ISO 0991:2000 QMS in all government agencies, and develops institutional infrastructure that shall provide certification with international accreditation.
