DBP Supports Program for Top LGUs Anew

DBP has again joined hands with the Galing Pook Foundation for the annual Galing Pook Awards which recognized the ten best local governance programs in the country during ceremonies held at the Malacañan Palace last February 12.

President & CEO Reynaldo G. David said DBP’s support to the Galing Pook Awards reflects the Bank’s commitment to encourage the development of local government programs that can fast-track positive socio-economic impacts and people empowerment.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo presented the citations to this year’s awardees including: Albay provincial government for its disaster risk management and reduction program; the Allah Valley Landscape Development Alliance in Sultan Kudarat and South Cotabato; Barangay Sanito in Ipil, Zamboanga for its empowering barangay government code; Cotabato Province for its Children First Program; and Marikina City for its advanced central warehousing system.

Other awardees are the Pampanga provincial government for its improved tax collection program for quarry operations; San Carlos City for its Xinstitution of an independent development organization; Taguig City for its Family Townhomes Project; San Fernando City, Pampanga for its Public Governance System scorecard; and Quezon City for the rehabilitation of the Payatas dumpsite.
